Just recently I read an article on WorldNetDaily that amply demonstrated all I have been saying about government schools for decades now.
It seems that government school officials in Des Moines, Iowa have allowed and promoted what they call a "gender-bender" in which students all participate in cross-dressing. Supposedly, this is part of their homecoming week, along with days for other things, but you have to wonder who thought up this idea and who among the school officials sanctioned it and apparently saw no problem with it? Almost sounds like the school system there is trying to make potential Rudy Giulianis out of the kids.
According to the WorldNetDaily article: "A public school's 'gender-bender' cross-dressing event, where boys are supposed to dress as girls and girls as boys, has prompted at least dozens, perhaps hundreds, of students to flee the tax-supported institutions in Iowa." Yes folks, this is what you are paying backbreaking property taxes for--the golden opportunity to have your kids taught how to cross-dress. A'int that just wonderful? The WorldNetDaily article also noted that this was an event that: "...has found sponsorship in other areas from the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, which has promoted a school lesson plan for teaching boys and girls how to cross-dress." Doesn't that info give you the warm fuzzies? Wonder if they are using that plan in Des Moines. Along about now, some devotee of public education will step up and say "Well, they don't have that in my kid's school." And they may not--yet! But hold onto your seat belts. It's probably coming.
While most parents in today's jaded culture will probably adopt a "so what" attitude, some of the parents in this Des Moines school district belong to a church called the Christ Apostolic Temple. They are justifiably bent out of shape over this program--as they should be. In fact, officials in Des Moines have confirmed that around eighty children have been removed by their parents from the government schools there and are now going into homeschooling. I don't know what kind of church the Christ Apostolic Temple is, possibly a charismatic type of church, but all I can say is good for those parents belonging to that church that had the common sense to get their kids out of the clutches of government "education" and to begin homeschooling them. They did the right thing. And the good news is, there might be even more!
One mother, whose kids are now safely removed from the public "education" apparatus there has noted that possibly as many as 200 families have filed the necessary paperwork to withdraw their children from government schools in the area. Would to God it were 20,000!
Of course the spokesman for the public schools said there was nothing unusual about all this and he claimed the numbers taking their kids out of public schools was "greatly exaggerated." What else could he say with a straight face? That's the same old game the public school officials always play when they've been caught doing something they had hoped to sneak by parents. They retort by saying "Well, it really wasn't that big a deal. You're the only one that has complained about it" and they try to make parents feel foolish just because they express hesitation at letting their kids become perverts. Why whats the matter with this handful of parents, being so narrow minded? Everybody else is doing it so what's their problem?
The principal in one school, Adam Clark, said he wanted to "encourage students to be 'freethinkers'" but he moaned that, somehow, that thought didn't come across. I wonder if Mr. Clark understands the classic definition of a freethinker as one who rejects traditional Christianity.
Over the past years I have read literally scores of similar stories about all manner of highly questionable activities and projects that government schools allow and promote--and yet the vast majority of parents gripe and moan--and then do nothing except to leave their kids in these same schools, as victims of the programs they just complained about. It seems they think their duty is to just complain and then do nothing else! You have to wonder sometimes just what it's going to take to wake people up. Apparently, in this case, the parents of kids at this church is Des Moines woke up and they have done the right thing by taking their kids and seceding from government "education" so called. They should be applauded.
